Join the debate

Our aim with Nano&me is to provide balanced, easy to understand information about nanotechnology and be the hub of debate for everyone to discuss the important issues which arise from its use. Visit the site and let us know what you think…. www.nanoandme.org

If you would like to link to the site or discuss partnering with us to use the site as part of your own public involvement projects contact Hilary Sutcliffe on [email protected]

We apologise that some of the links on the site may not work. The UK government gave us a grant for this pilot site. We are currently fundraising to bring the site up to date and create the hub for debate that we think is so important.

Nano&me

Our aim

Our aim with Nano&me was to provide balanced but easily understood information about nanotechnology and be the hub of debate for everyone to discuss the important issues which arise from its use. Visit the site and let us know what you think… www.nanoandme.org.

The ‘me’ in Nano&me can be the public, schools or journalists wanting to know more about nano, but it could also be businesses looking to understand the regulatory regime and see where they go for more information on the law, or universities looking to see where to go to exploit their research.

We would have liked to feature information on the products using nano, the benefits of its use and the testing done to assure safety. But unfortunately at the moment this is not possible as information on products using nano is not currently available. We are exploring this concept with our Walking with Stakeholders Project.

Funding

We obtained a grant from the UK government’s ScienceWise project to create a pilot of the resource we had in mind.

Responses

The site has had very encouraging response from scientists, consumer groups and businesses, though for data protection and funding reasons we were unable to obtain too much information from the public themselves about the pilot.

See here for independent nano specialist Professor Andrew Maynard’s review. The report of the consultation on the effectiveness of the site is available here
